Questions paddlers ask us
What is PaddleFinder?
PaddleFinder is the community paddle-spot directory built into PaddlePal. A free way to discover launch points, kayak access spots, SUP-friendly beaches, and canoe routes across the world. Every spot is reviewed and curated by paddlers.
Is PaddleFinder free to use?
Yes. Browsing every spot, region, and route on the web is completely free. The PaddlePal iOS app is also free to download; some advanced features like PaddleSafe protection are part of the Pro subscription.
How do you choose which spots to include?
Spots come from a mix of community submissions, public datasets, and editorial curation. Each entry is checked for accuracy, and paddlers can leave reviews, photos, and condition reports to keep the data current.
Can I add a spot or correct one?
Absolutely. Open any spot page and tap "Suggest an edit",you can submit a new launch point, fix details, or report something that's no longer paddleable. PaddlePal Pro members can submit GPX routes too.
Does PaddleFinder work offline?
The web version requires a connection. The PaddlePal iOS app downloads spot info and your saved routes for offline use, handy when you're paddling in remote areas without signal.
How is this different from other paddle apps?
PaddlePal is built by paddlers, for paddlers. Beyond the directory, you get GPS tracking, live wind & tide forecasts, Strava + Apple Health sync, and PaddleSafe: fall, immersion, and inactivity detection that runs natively on Apple Watch.
